Dewalt/National Tradesperson Day

MAN:  Up at five...
WOMAN:  Up at five.
M:  Before the sun.
W:  Before the dog and the ki—nope, they’re all up now, too.
M:  Damn, what I’d give for another twenty.
W:  Shoot, even ten.
M:  Weekend can’t come soon enough.

W:  Back’s tight, feet ache, shoulder’s in knots...
M:  And my hands... don’t even get me started on my hands.
W:  But you can’t snooze that pain away; you gotta get up.
M:  Get up with it, roll with it; it’s yours, it makes you.
W:  You’re stronger for it, tougher, now push the pain away.
M:  Gut it out, man.
W:  It’s time to get after it, girl.
M/W:  Let’s fuckin’ go.

W:  Pack one lunch, then another two.
M:  Kiss the wife and kids...
W:  Kiss my man before I’m backing out the driveway and on the road...
M:  Inbound and comin’ in hot... well, with a cup’a hot coffee anyway.
W:  On site, first to arrive, just me... calm before the storm
M:  The quiet, the clean air- no dust, no smoke, no bad jokes.
W:  Spoke to soon; here comes the calvary.
M:  Let’s unload these trucks, run them cords, plug in,
W:  Oh, look at you with your battery op’s, fancy.
M:  Boss is barkin’, brutal day ahead, so stay focused.
W:  On point, on task, til the job’s done.
M:  Seems impossible...
W:  Sounds impossible... Nah.
M/W:  Nothing’s impossible.
M:  You seen what we can do.  You know.
W:  We do the work they won’t do.
M:  The work they can’t do.
W:  We. Do. The work.

M:  I am a Tradesman.
W:  A Tradeswoman.
M:  Meant to move, skilled to shape, drive and connect.  On site and in the field.
W:  Like those who came up before us, we’re down to build the world around us, below us, above us.
M:  The buildings they sit in...
W:  The homes we live and die in...
M:  The planes, the bridges, the roads... Everything.
W:  With my bare hands, my sheer strength and determination...
M:  Teeth gnashed, knuckles busted, brows furrowed n’ sweating.
W:  I ain’t in the game for likes.
M:  There’s nothin’ “insta” about my craft.
W:  Tick-tock? That’s just the sound of a deadline looming.
M:  We do this thing cuz we wanna leave something behind, something real, something you can touch.
W:  We do it cuz it’s in our dna, you feel me?

M:  People think we’re crazy- the long hours, the sharp tools, (chuckles), the ladders...
W:  Hell, they might be right.  It takes a special kinda badass to work the trades.
M:  There’re those made to ride a desk and run calls and stare at screens all day.
W:  ...and then there’s us.

M/W: Some people weren’t meant to sit.
